E. coli bacteria: recall of potentially contaminated flour expanded again
New products are added to the national recall list of flour potentially contaminated with E. coli. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency further expanded the initial recall that was launched on March 28.
The products covered by the recall now include other Robin Hood brand flours First choice, all-purpose, unbleached, instant as well as mixes for white bread and rolls. A Creative Baker All Purpose Flour is also added to the recall list.
The flours were sold in packages of various sizes ranging from 1.36 kilos to 10 kilos.
The products come from Ardent Mills. The mill has facilities in Quebec, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
The agency advises to discard the products covered by the recall or to bring them back to the store where they were purchased.
Product-related illnesses have been reported in various locations across the country, including some in Newfoundland and Labrador. A class action was commenced on behalf of those who bought the recalled flour or fell ill.
E.coli can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and watery or bloody diarrhea.
