QUEBEC – Zombies, canning and curling will soon appear on the keyboards of your phones. The Unicode consortium, responsible for the creation of these small colorful icons, unveiled Tuesday the 56 new emojis that will be released in the coming weeks.
Among the new emojis, there are several faces expressing emotions, such as an indecisive character with a raised eyebrow, another who places his finger in front of his mouth to ask for silence and even a head that explodes.
Animal lovers will not be left behind. A zebra, a hedgehog and two dinosaurs are added to the list. On the power side, 12 new icons appear.
Major phone manufacturers should include these new icons shortly in the updates of their operating systems.
Twitter is one of the first sites where these designs can be used, said Bryan Haggerty, the social network design manager.
